Gary Parrish is out with his latest NBA mock draft at CBS Sports, and 5 SEC players are in the top 30.
The wide consensus remains that the top 2 picks will be Victor Wembanyama of France at No. 1 overall, and Brandon Miller of Alabama at No. 2.
Of Miller, Parrish wrote, “Reasonable minds can disagree on whether Miller or Scoot Henderson is the second-best prospect in this draft because most believe it’s very debatable. What’s less debatable is that Miller is a better fit with franchise point guard LaMelo Ball, and that’s among the reasons Charlotte should probably go that direction.”
As for Anthony Black from Arkansas, he’s described as having great size for his position and the ability to make plays out of pick-and-rolls. He also has a high basketball IQ. A lingering knee issue is one reason why Arkansas’ Nick Smith Jr. could slip, but still be picked in the top 20.
Kentucky’s Cason Wallace, meanwhile, is a playmaker who has a chance to be above average on both ends of the court, especially as an on-ball defender. Alabama’s Noah Clowney has what NBA teams love these days — defensive versatility, and Parrish considers it his strongest attribute.
Here are the remaining SEC selections:
2 — Brandon Miller, SF, Alabama, Charlotte
9 — Anthony Black, PG, Arkansas, Utah
16 — Nick Smith Jr. SG, Arkansas, Utah
18 — Cason Wallace, PG, Kentucky, Miami
22 — Noah Clowney, PF, Alabama, Brooklyn
