The Georgia Bulldogs‘ 2025-26 college basketball season was a lot of fun… until it wasn’t. An SEC Tournament loss to Ole Miss, followed by a blowout defeat against Saint Louis in the NCAA Tournament, threw a big bucket of cold water on head coach Mike White’s campaign. Unfortunately, Monday’s news isn’t making things better.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton and The Field of 68, Jeremiah Wilkinson is entering the transfer portal. The Bulldogs’ sophomore guard averaged a team-high 17.4 points per game last season.
Wilkinson, who hails from Powder Springs, GA, began his collegiate career at Cal. He posted 15.1 points per game with the Golden Bears in 2024-25 before returning home to Georgia an offseason ago. His departure will make things tougher on White, who has come under fire for the Bulldogs’ poor postseason showings. Georgia has never made 3 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, so another trip to the Big Dance in 2026-27 would be a major accomplishment. However, no fanbase wants to get trounced the way the Dawgs have been the past 2 years.
As a recruit, 247Sports’ Composite rankings listed Wilkinson as the No. 34 combo guard in the 2023 class. He had offers from a host of colleges, and was once committed to Mississippi State, but wound up heading to Berkeley instead. Both Ole Miss and Florida gave an offer to Wilkinson when he was in high school.
