Joe Lunardi Bracketology: Kentucky, Mississippi State enter must-win scenarios to stay in field Saturday

Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology has 8 SEC teams in the field, with Mississippi State and Kentucky dangerously close to missing out on the field of 68 were the season to end today.
Both the Wildcats and Bulldogs are part of Lunardi’s Last Four In, and both drop from the field with a loss Saturday. For Mississippi State, avoiding a loss against Ole Miss should not be that difficult, despite the fact it is played in Oxford. Kentucky, however, is looking to sweep a Tennessee team that is fresh off a huge win over No. 1 Alabama.
Below is a list of where each SEC team is currently projected to seed in March ahead of Saturday’s games, per Lunardi.
- Alabama – No. 1 Seed
- Tennessee – No. 2 Seed
- Auburn – No. 8 Seed
- Missouri – No. 8 Seed
- Texas A&M – No. 9 Seed
- Arkansas – No. 10 Seed
- Kentucky – No. 11 Seed
- Mississippi State – No. 11 Seed
The SEC is currently tied for 2nd most bids per conference, behind the Big Ten and tied with the Big 12.
