Selection Sunday has finally arrived on the college basketball calendar, and by the time the dust settles on this all-important date in mid-March, 68 teams will have officially punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
After setting the all-time record for teams in the NCAA tournament last season with 14, the SEC has once again been arguably the deepest conference in the country this season, which means they are likely to be represented by yet another sizable contingent.
ESPN analyst Joe Lunardi has been keeping up with each division 1 program’s play all season long and projecting the NCAA bracket after each week. Lunardi’s latest projection has the SEC leading the pack once again, with 10 squads earning bids to the tournament.
While this projection is a far cry from last year’s record-setting bid count, it still has the SEC out in front of every other league in the country, with the Big 10 right behind them in second with 9 projected bids.
Here’s a list of every team from the Southeastern Conference that Lunardi has getting into March Madness, and where he believes they will be seeded:
- Florida: No. 1 Seed (South)
- Alabama: No. 4 Seed (West)
- Vanderbilt: No. 4 Seed (East)
- Arkansas: No. 5 Seed (Midwest)
- Tennessee: No. 6 Seed (South)
- Kentucky: No. 7 Seed (East)
- Georgia: No. 8 Seed (Midwest)
- Texas A&M: No. 10 Seed (South)
- Missouri: No. 11 Seed (East)
- Texas: No. 11 Seed (West)
