Tennessee forward JP Estrella has been absent from the Volunteers’ last two games due to left foot soreness. He was listed as questionable in Monday’s injury report ahead of the Vols’ game at Mizzou on Tuesday.
It appears he is healthy enough to give it a go against the Tigers. Estrella wasn’t listed on the Vols’ gameday injury report released a few hours before the 9 p.m. ET tipoff.
After surgery on his left foot caused him to miss all but the first three games of the 2024-25 season, Estrella has provided several contributions when called upon by Rick Barnes. In 23 games, he has averaged 9.7 points and 5.2 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per outing. He had the best game of his college career on Nov. 12 against North Florida as he posted 23 points and 10 rebounds. He has started in his last seven appearances.
Having Estrella back is good news for the Volunteers, who enter Tuesday’s game at Mizzou Arena with a 20-7 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the SEC. That’s put them in a three-way tie for second place in the conference, two games behind league-leading Florida with four games left in the regular season.
After Mizzou, Tennessee hosts Alabama on Saturday. It wraps up the regular season at South Carolina (Mar. 3) and against Vanderbilt (Mar. 7).
