Kam Williams’ foot seems fine to us.

The Kentucky small forward made his long-anticipated return from injury as the Wildcats face off against LSU in the SEC Tournament. Minutes after checking in, Williams knocked down his first shot attempt in just under 2 months – a catch-and-shoot 3 from the wing.

And boy, was it a sight for sore eyes. Kentucky has been a little dead in the water lately, and the hope with Williams’ return was that he would be able to provide a much-needed spark for Kentucky’s offense.

Williams has missed action since breaking his foot on January 21 against Texas, the majority of SEC play. He averaged around 25 minutes per game before his injury, sometimes coming off the bench and other times being named among starting 5. He’s averaging 7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game this season, and posted strong outings against Indiana, St. John’s and Bellarmine (26 points).

The Tulane transfer is one of those players whose game can’t be fully appreciated if you only judge by the box score. He protects the ball and is an efficient shooter, but Williams is also a huge energy source for the team – which is exactly what Kentucky needs heading into tournament season.

Kentucky leads LSU 46-43 at halftime.
