Latrell Wrightsell, Mark Mitchell named SEC Co-Players of the Week

Alabama’s Latrell Wrightsell and Missouri’s Mark Mitchell were named the SEC Co-Players of the Week on Monday.
Interestingly, Mitchell and Wrightsell were both rewarded for excellent performances against Tennessee and Mississippi State. Wrightsell posted 25 points on 6-9 shooting from behind the arc against the Vols while also scoring 18 points on 4-10 from range against Mississippi State.
Mitchell, on the other hand, had a dominant second half against the Volunteers, scoring 23 points to help lead the Tigers to a much-needed win. Mitchell also showed out against the Bulldogs the following game, scoring a team-high 17 points with 4 rebounds.
As you can see, Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno was also recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Week for strong outings against Vanderbilt and South Carolina.
This past week was by far Wrightsell’s best as a member of the Alabama basketball team, and his recent play has helped fuel an 8-game winning streak dating back to February 1. As you may have put together, Wrightsell hit 10 of his 19 attempted 3-pointers last week and is currently shooting a blistering 43% in SEC play on 100 shots.
Mitchell, on the other hand, is doing just about everything for Missouri, which is also playing their best basketball heading into the month of March. The Tigers have won 3 of their last 4, including wins over the Volunteers and Vanderbilt Commodores. The Tigers started last week on the wrong side of the bubble, but now have a 92% chance to reach the tournament according to Kalshi.
