The second-seeded LSU women’s basketball team routed No. 15 seed Jacksonville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 116-58 en route to making some history.

This was the Tigers’ 15th 100-point game this season, which ties a Division I record along with the 1986-87 Long Beach State team, according to ESPN.

LSU advances to the Round of 32 to face the winner of Friday night’s games vs. No. 7 seed Texas Tech and 10th seed Villanova.

With seven double-digit scorers in the victory, LSU far exceeded its average of 94.5 points per game.

Flau’jae Johnson led LSU with 20 points while Mikaylah Williams added a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists. Overall, LSU shot a blistering 60 percent from the field (43 of 72). That’s despite the fact LSU only shot 29 percent on its 21 3-pointers.

LSU raced out to a 14-0 lead and then a 21-4 advantage in the first half. LSU held a 38-15 edge in points off turnovers along with a season-high 18 steals.

High-powered LSU’s season high for points is 126 at New Orleans on Dec. 7. LSU has reached the NCAA Tournament every season since Kim Mulkey took over in 2021, including capturing the national title in 2023.
