Miami (OH) completes 31-0 regular season, taunts rival Ohio crowd following win

No. 19 Miami (OH) capped off the men’s college basketball regular season as the lone undefeated team with a 110-108 overtime victory at rival Ohio on Friday night. Eian Elemer led the way with a career-high 32 points along with 12 rebounds in the regular season finale.
Basking in the glow of being 31-0, the RedHawks players gleefully taunted the disappointed crowd as the buzzer sounded. Keep in mind, this was Miami’s first time beating Ohio at their place since 2011, so this rivalry definitely isn’t nice and friendly.
Miami (OH) is just the third men’s basketball program in NCAA history to reach its conference tournament unblemished. The others were 2013-14Â Wichita State and 2014-15 Kentucky.
Miami (OH), which is ranked 89th in the KenPom rankings, hasn’t played a ranked opponent this season. Miami (OH) ranked 360th in non-conference strength of schedule. Meanwhile, the RedHawks are 53rd in NET and 30th in Wins Above Bubble.
Even if Miami (OH) makes the Big Dance, it could be a daunting march. The RedHawks are being pegged as a double-digit seed based on various projections from experts. But after finishing 31-0 in the regular season, we can all at least assume the RedHawks will be dancing. Kalshi’s latest odds for the RedHawks to reach the Round of 64 currently sit at 84%
Next up for Miami (OH) as it attempts to bolster its resume is a matchup vs. Massachusetts in the MAC Championship quarterfinals on March 12 (11 am EST/ESPN+).
