Mouhamed Dioubate and Alabama advanced to the Round of 32, but it wasn’t easy as Robert Morris wouldn’t go away. In the end, the Crimson Tide were able to do just enough to get the win, advancing by a score of 90-81.

With Grant Nelson limited due to the knee injury he suffered against Florida, somebody had to step up and Dioubate delivered in a huge way. He had a sensational game for the Crimson Tide, as he finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, with only Mark Sears scoring more points (22).

During the game, Robert Morris started to talk some trash as the Colonials stayed with the Crimson Tide the entire way. Robert Morris star Kam Woods also said ahead of the game that a lot of mid-major programs want to face the Tide. After the game, Dioubate said the trash talk fueled Alabama.

“I love it man,” Dioubate told reporters in the locker room. “I love that energy man. The other team started to get a little chirpy, and we responded. We did a little talking to, but you know, we responded on the court. They said prior to the game they were looking for a matchup like this all year, and we gave their ass what they wanted. We love that energy man, and we are always going to respond.”

One area where Alabama will have to get better on Sunday is on the defensive glass. They were out-rebounded by only 2 on the glass, but the Colonials had 16 offensive rebounds, compared to only 5 for the Crimson Tide. That allowed Robert Morris to stay in the game, as the Colonials had 20 more shot attempts (78-58) than the Crimson Tide.

If that happens in Sunday’s Round of 32 matchup against Saint Mary’s, it could be a long day for Alabama.
