Alabama coach Nate Oats provided a brief update on star guard Labaron Philon on Friday afternoon.

Philon was absent due to injury for Alabama’s 100-75 win over Mississippi State earlier this week. It was the second game Philon has missed this season and the first since Dec. 29.

Philon’s injury is not expected to be a long-term issue, but his status for Saturday’s game at Tennessee remains in question. Oats did tell reporters he was able to participate in “some” of Alabama‘s practice on Friday.

“He’s chomping at the bit to get back,” Oats said of his star guard.

Whether or not Philon is able to play will likely have a huge impact on the outcome of this game against the Vols. Philon has been one of the SEC’s best guards this season, averaging an efficient 21 points per game in conference play.

Kalshi, which is legal in most US states, has Tennessee priced as a significant favorite in this matchup as of publication:

This is a big game for both teams. The Crimson Tide have won 7 games in a row entering this contest and are back in contention for a top-4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Tennessee is also in the running for a top-4 seed but is coming off of a disappointing loss to Mizzou earlier this week.

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on Saturday evening.
