Ole Miss lands 2nd ex-Louisville star for Chris Beard’s transfer recruiting class
Ole Miss received a commitment from one of the top forwards in the transfer portal, with James Scott joining Chris Beard’s talented transfer class.
The former Louisville player’s move to Oxford was reported by On3 on Wednesday afternoon.
Scott appeared in 70 games for Louisville and Charleston over the past 2 seasons. The 6-foot-11 forward started his collegiate career at Charleston and then chose to follow head coach Pat Kelsey to Louisville when Kelsey took the Cardinals job for the 2024-25 season.
Over his 2 seasons playing for Kelsey, Scott has averaged 6.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.0 assists. Now, he’ll look to improve on those numbers in going from the ACC to the SEC to join Ole Miss, which is coming off a trip to the Sweet 16 last season. He’ll also be reuniting with former Louisville guard Koren Johnson, who announced his commitment to Ole Miss last month.
Scott is just the latest addition to Beard’s talented transfer class this offseason and is Ole Miss’s second transfer addition this week, joining former Kentucky guard Travis Perry, who announced his commitment to the Rebels on Sunday. Ole Miss’s transfer haul this offseason also includes LSU forward Corey Chest and Kansas guard AJ Storr, as Beard has loaded up on the heels of last season’s deep NCAA Tournament run.
