As a head coach, sometimes you just have to applaud the players on the floor.

And in unfortunate cases, you’re paying respect to the opposition.

Texas’ Sean Miller found himself in this situation Wednesday night, as the first-year coach of the Longhorns had nothing but praise for Arkansas’ Darius Acuff Jr. after the Razorbacks won 105-85.

Continuing his incredible freshman campaign, Acuff finished with 28 points, 13 assists and 3 rebounds in the 20-point victory, his 5th double-double of the season.

Following the game, Miller met with the media and discussed Acuff’s performance, raving about the point guard’s ability while commenting on his NBA status.

According to reporting from HawgSports.com’s Connor Goodson, Miller praised Acuff’s “greatness” and emphasized that he’s one of the best points guard he’s seen at the college level. The former Xavier coach added that he doesn’t understand why Acuff isn’t being seriously talked about as a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Here’s a look at Acuff’s odds to be selected in the top 10, per Kalshi:

With Acuff averaging 22 points, 6.2 assists and 3 rebounds per game while shooting just under 50% from the floor, it’s safe to say that Miller’s applause is validated.

But of course, legends at the college level are truly made in March, and Acuff will have plenty of opportunities to bolster his draft stock during both the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.
