The SEC men’s hoops season is marching toward February. There’s actually a Sunday game this weekend, thanks to the absence of NFL play. Alabama-Florida will grace our screens on Sunday afternoon, and that’s certainly a must-watch matchup.

But how do the other 7 SEC games compare?

Here’s your definitive ranking of this weekend’sย 8 SEC men’s basketball games, from most to least watchable:

Tier 1: Can’t-Miss TV

Here are the games to circle on your calendar for this weekend:

1. Kentucky at Arkansas

Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN

Two storied programs in a classic SEC showdown. Arkansas (16-5, 6-2 SEC) is tied for 2nd in the conference and playing its best basketball (.498 FG%, 89.3 PPG). Kentucky (14-7, 5-3 SEC) needs a road win to stay in the upper tier. Bud Walton Arena will be absolutely rocking for this one. The Razorbacks are 6-2 in SEC play and have been dominant at home, while Kentucky brings offensive firepower (81.2 PPG). Prime time on ESPN, 2 blue bloods, and major implications. We’ll know within the first 5 minutes whether the elite Kentucky team or the complete Kentucky dud shows up to face its former coach.

Watchability Score: 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

2. Alabama at Florida

Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on ABC

The only Sunday game features 2 top-tier SEC teams on national television. Florida (15-6, 6-2 SEC) is tied for 2nd in the conference standings with excellent balance (85.6 PPG, 71.1 opponent PPG). Alabama (14-6, 4-3 SEC) brings the most-explosive offense in the SEC (92 PPG). This is a clash of styles: Alabama’s run-and-gun vs Florida’s balanced frontcourt effort. National TV on ABC in the afternoon means this matters for seeding and national perception. Expect fireworks in Gainesville.

Watchability Score: 9.5/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

3. Auburn at Tennessee

Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN

Primetime SEC basketball at its finest. Tennessee (14-6, 4-3 SEC) boasts the best defense in the conference (69.8 PPG allowed) and hosts Auburn (14-7, 5-3 SEC) in a hostile Thompson-Boling Arena environment. Auburn’s balanced attack (85.1 PPG) meets Tennessee’s suffocating defense in a game both teams desperately need. Late-night ESPN showcase with tournament implications. This is what conference play is all about.

Watchability Score: 9.0/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tier 2: Highly Watchable

These games aren’t as great as the top tier, but they’re still worth your time:

4. Texas A&M at Georgia

Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on SEC Network

This could be the highest-scoring game of the weekend. Texas A&M (16-4, 6-1 SEC) is leading the SEC standings with a high-powered offense (91.8 PPG). Georgia (16-5, 4-4 SEC) has the highest-scoring offense in the entire SEC (93.0 PPG) and will make this a shootout. Both teams can really score, so expect points galore in Athens. The Aggies are rolling and looking like a legitimate SEC title contender, while Georgia is dangerous at home. First to 100 wins?

Watchability Score: 8.0/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

5. Texas at Oklahoma

Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2

The Red River Rivalry comes to basketball! Texas (12-9, 3-5 SEC) visits Oklahoma (11-10, 1-7 SEC) in a game both teams need, albeit for different reasons. Oklahoma is struggling at 1-7 in SEC play and needs a signature win at home to salvage its season. Texas is trying to stay above .500 in conference and build momentum. Rivalry games always deliver intensity and drama regardless of records, and Lloyd Noble Center will be electric.

Watchability Score: 7.5/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tier 3: Solid Basketball

If you don’t have anything else to do, these games will be entertaining:

6. Mississippi State at Mizzou

Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network

Mizzou (14-7, 4-4 SEC) has the best field goal percentage in the SEC (49.6%) and is playing for positioning in the middle of the pack. Mississippi State (11-10, 3-5 SEC) is barely above .500 and fighting to stay relevant in the conference race. Mizzou Arena should provide a solid atmosphere, and Missouri’s efficient offense makes it dangerous at home. A good game for the afternoon slate.

Watchability Score: 6.5/10 ⭐⭐⭐

7. Ole Miss at Vanderbilt

📅 Saturday, 5:00 PM ET | 📺 SEC Network

Vanderbilt (18-3, 5-3 SEC) is having a breakout season with the best overall record in the SEC and a potent offense (89.6 PPG). Ole Miss (11-9, 3-4 SEC) is struggling but gets a chance at a quality road win. Memorial Gymnasium is one of the toughest and most unique venues in college basketball. The Commodores are a legitimate tournament team this year and will be looking to protect home court.

Watchability Score: 6.0/10 ⭐⭐⭐

Tier 4: For Diehards Only

You have my permission to avoid this game and watch Texas-Oklahoma or any of the other games on in this time slot:

8. LSU at South Carolina

Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on SEC Network+

LSU (13-8, 1-7 SEC) and South Carolina (11-10, 2-6 SEC) are both struggling mightily in conference play. LSU is 1-7 in the SEC despite a decent overall record, while South Carolina is 2-6 and barely above .500 overall. While there’s always pride on the line, this game has minimal tournament implications and is relegated to SEC Network+. Only watch if you’re a fan of either team or a completist. South Carolina also won in Baton Rouge earlier this year, so the return trip to Columbia won’t be easy for Matt McMahon and the Tigers.

Watchability Score: 4.0/10 ⭐
