The SEC has named its Week 7 weekly awards with just a few days remaining until the start of conference play.
As always, the SEC named the Player of the Week and the Freshman of the Week for the last few games of each SEC team’s schedule.
Mississippi State’s Jimmy Bell was named the SEC Player of the Week for his incredible performance against Rutgers on Saturday. Bell, who transferred in from West Virginia, finished Saturday’s win over the Scarlet Knights with a 17-point, 18-rebound double-double.
The Freshman of the Week is Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard, who has been one of the best players in the conference so far this season. He also posted a double-double, helping down Louisville with 11 points, 11 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds.
11 assists is the most ever by a Wildcat against Louisville. This is Sheppard’s 2nd Freshman of the Week award.
