Syracuse will be looking for a new basketball coach this offseason. The Orange, following a 15-17 campaign, have fired head coach Adrian Autry after 3 seasons.
Not much went right for Autry during his 3 seasons with the Orange. He finished a respectable 20-12 during his first season, but still missed out on the NCAA Tournament due to a lacking resume. It only got worse from there: Autry failed to surpass 15 wins in 2025 and 2026, with the Orange falling to SMU in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday.
Here’s what AD John Wildhack had to say about Syracuse basketball moving forward:
“This is one of the most storied programs in college basketball, and we intend to hire a proven winner who will build on that legacy. We are looking for a coach who can recruit at the highest level, develop players and compete for championships, conference and national. Syracuse fans deserve nothing less, and that is exactly what we are going to deliver.”
Wildhack will soon be gone from Syracuse as well. He announced that he will be retiring on July 1, and the incoming AD is expected to make the hire for Syracuse’s next head coach.
Now the question is this: Who does Syracuse target? A popular answer could be former player and assistant Gerry McNamara, who currently serves as head coach at Siena. However, some Syracuse fans will no doubt want to move away from the Jim Boeheim tree as Syracuse basketball enters a new era.
Here’s a look at the latest odds to win the ACC Tournament:
