Tahaad Pettiford reportedly makes decision between NBA, Auburn for 2025-26
Tahaad Pettiford will be back with Auburn basketball for the 2025-26 season, according to a report.
Per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Pettiford has decided to withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft in favor of returning to college for his sophomore campaign. Pettiford went through the pre-draft process and received feedback from teams, but will be coming back to school.
Givony says Pettiford will now enter next season as a projected first-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft:
Pettiford had a tremendous freshman season at Auburn. Mostly coming off the bench, Pettiford averaged over 11 points and 3 assists per game. He also shot nearly 37% from 3-point range on a high volume of attempts.
Looking ahead to next season, Pettiford will likely have an even larger role in Auburn’s offense. Key players such as Johni Broome, Chad Baker-Mazara, Miles Kelly and Denver Jones have all moved on from the program this offseason.
Bruce Pearl and his staff have been aggressive in adding players from both the transfer portal and the high school recruiting circuit this offseason. But most recently, Auburn received a commitment from European big man Filip Jovic on Wednesday.
Auburn is currently +3000 to win the National Championship next season, according to the latest odds from BetMGM.
