Tennessee’s Nate Ament exits game vs. Alabama with apparent leg injury

Tennessee forward Nate Ament left the Vols’ game against Alabama in the first half on Saturday with an apparent leg injury.

Ament, who has been one of the nation’s best freshmen this season, appeared to get his leg rolled up after diving for a loose ball amid players for both teams. Ament received attention from trainers before walking to the tunnel under his own power.

Ament did not re-enter the game before halftime. ESPN cameras showed him stretching in the hallway but did not appear to be headed to the locker room. Ament had been dealing with a minor ankle injury in the lead-up to this contest.

If Ament is forced to miss any length of time, it would be a huge blow to Tennessee’s postseason aspirations. Ament has been one of Tennessee’s top scorers this season in addition to being a strong defender on the wing. He’s currently projected to be a lottery pick in this summer’s NBA Draft.
