That’s the word from Texas A&M director of athletics Trev Alberts, who announced Saturday morning that Aggies men’s basketball coach Bucky McMillan has reached an agreement on a contract extension.
“Bucky McMillan is one of the most innovative minds in college basketball and we are so proud of the success the team had this season,” Alberts said in the statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). “He and his staff have built a foundation for Aggie basketball that is centered around relentless energy, modern analytics and a culture players love to be a part of.
“We believe in his vision and Bucky Ball is here to stay.”
McMillan was reportedly earning both the extension on his contract but also a salary “market adjustment” from the 5-year, $16 million contract he signed in April 2025 – a deal which includes a $3 million base salary in the first year and a $100,000 increase in each subsequent season.
McMillan’s Aggies went 22-12 overall and 11-7 in the SEC in 2025-26. Texas A&M earning a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a 63-50 upset victory over No. 7 seed Saint Mary’s in the first round before falling 88-57 to No. 2 seed Houston in the Round of 32.
