Tobin Anderson, Fairleigh Dickinson head coach, lands new job after stunning March Madness upset

Tobin Anderson and the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights became only the second No. 16 seed to upset a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament this year, taking down the Purdue Boilermakers.
Now Anderson has parlayed that success into a more prominent coaching job in the college hoops ranks.
The Iona Gaels announced on Tuesday afternoon that they were hiring Anderson to replace Rick Pitino, who left Iona for St. John’s after this year’s NCAA Tournament:

“I appreciate this tremendous opportunity from Matt Glovaski and Dr. Carey to be the next leader of one of the most storied basketball programs on the East Coast,” Anderson said in a press release. “Iona University represents everything my family and I were looking for in a school, a basketball program and a campus atmosphere. Our goal is to build upon the tremendous tradition of Iona basketball and elevate the program to greater heights.”
Anderson spent 1 season at Fairleigh Dickinson, compiling a 21-16 overall record with the Knights.
