Todd Golden and the Florida Gators are looking to make a run at a national title, as the No. 1 seed in the West takes on Norfolk State on Friday at 6:50 p.m. ET. When you have a season like the Gators have, schools are going to want to take a look at bringing in assistant coaches to lead their program.

That was the case at Florida, as assistant John Andrzejek was announced as the new coach at Campbell.

Golden was asked about losing Andrzejek to Campbell, and he said that he was going to promote Jonathan Safir from his current role as the Director of Strategy and Analytics.

Safir has been at Florida for 3 seasons now, as he came with Golden when he took the job. Safir was also with Golden San Francisco from 2018-2022, as he was the director of operations for the first 3 years before becoming an assistant in his final year.

Hiring coaches during the NCAA tournament is becoming the norm, as McNeese coach Will Wade was announced as the new coach at NC State despite the Cowboys being the in the tournament. Earlier in the season, Duke assistant Jai Lucas took the job at Miami, and doesn’t even get to embark on this NCAA Tournament run with the team. He left after the regular season finale against North Carolina.
