Wade Taylor IV just broke another record.
The longtime Texas A&M fixture is now the all-time leading scorer in the history of the SEC Tournament. The league confirmed that news on Thursday afternoon after reaching 188 career points on this stage.
The previous record-holder was Tennessee guard Allan Houston, who scored 187 points across 9 games in his SEC Tournament career. This was the 11th SEC Tournament game of Taylor’s career, so it has taken him a bit more time to get to the record than Houston needed.
Still, it’s a remarkably-impressive feat that is a testament to Taylor’s talent and longevity. Since 2002-03, no other SEC player has even scored 155 career points in the conference tournament. Taylor’s 82 points during the 2023-24 SEC Tournament are also the 2nd-most by any SEC player over that same span.
Taylor has been on a record-breaking run recently as his college career inches toward its conclusion. He became the all-time leading scorer in Texas A&M basketball history earlier this month. Taylor also became the 2nd Aggie to have his jersey honored by the program, joining the great Acie Law.
Texas A&M will learn its seed for the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
