12 SEC players named to 2020 Walter Camp Preseason All-American Team; 5 on first team

As we get closer to the 2020 college football season, it’s becoming the part of the offseason where we start seeing preseason accolades.
On Thursday, The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced its preseason All-American Team. The team is made up of 50 players from 33 different schools in eight conferences. As for the SEC, 12 players make the team, including 5 receiving first-team honors. The Walter Camp announcement notes that Ja’Marr Chase, Derek Stingley and Max Duffy are among the 14 members of the 2020 preseason team to earn 2019 All-American recognition.
Here are the preseason All-Americans from the SEC:

- Alabama WR DeVonta Smith
- Florida TE Kyle Pitts
First Team Defense
- LSU DB Derek Stingley
- Kentucky P Max Duffy
Second Team Offense
- Alabama OL Alex Leatherwood
- Tennessee OL Trey Smith
- Alabama RB Najee Harris
Second Team Defense
- Missouri LB Nick Bolton
- Alabama LB Dylan Moses
- Alabama DB Patrick Surtain II
- Alabama KR Jaylen Waddle

Walter Camp, considered the “Father of American Football,” first named an All-American team in 1889. The 2020 season will be the 131st edition of the team. In late November, the 2020 All-America teams will be selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 130 FBS schools.
