Before the season, ESPN attempted to rank who the top 50 players would be. Obviously, that didn’t turn out very well, as predictions are hard.

In fact, Heisman-winning QB Joe Burrow didn’t even make the cut. With the benefit of hindsight, ESPN recently went back and re-ranked the top 50 players of the 2019 season, and 19 SEC stars made the cut.

Burrow is now No. 1 on the list, followed by some other top SEC talent:

  • No. 1 — Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
  • No. 6 — Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
  • No. 8 — Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
  • No. 10 — Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
  • No. 14 — Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
  • No. 19 — Derek Stingley Jr., DB, LSU
  • No. 20 — Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
  • No. 22 — Najee Harris, RB, Alabama
  • No. 24 — DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
  • No. 26 — Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU
  • No. 29 — D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
  • No. 31 — Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
  • No. 32 — Jonathan Greenard, EDGE, Florida
  • No. 34 — Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
  • No. 37 — Lynn Bowden Jr., QB/WR, Kentucky
  • No. 40 — J.R. Reed, S, Georgia
  • No. 42 — Anfernee Jennings, LB, Alabama
  • No. 43 — Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina
  • No. 44 — Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
