A pair of assistant coaches on Sam Pittman’s staff at Arkansas have received contract extensions along with a bump in pay.

According to Matt Jones of Whole Hog Sports, cornerbacks coach Sam Carter and running backs coach Jimmy Smith had their contracts extended to February 2023. Along with the 1-year extensions, both coaches received a pay increase, Carter to $350,000 and Smith to $300,000. That’s up from both men’s original $225,000 salary.

The Razorbacks are looking to build on the momentum of Pittman’s first season in Fayetteville and continue their climb up the SEC West standings. Despite finishing 3-7 in 2020 and ending on a 4-game losing streak, they showed improvement from their 2-10 mark in 2019.

Four Razorbacks were named to the All-SEC preseason team, including a 1st-team pick in wide receiver Treylon Burks, a 2nd-team offensive selection in center Ricky Stromberg, and a pair of 2nd-team all-defense nods in linebacker Grant Morgan and defensive back Jalen Catalon.

Arkansas kicks off the season on September 4 against Rice.
