As COVID-19 continues to spread around the globe, it has forced the cancellations of numerous sporting events.

That impact has been felt in the SEC, and now, the virus has made its way into the Georgia athletic department.

Per a release from Georgia on Wednesday, an athletics staffer has tested positive for COVID-19 and another staffer is under self-quarantine after having contact with that individual (via Dawg Nation):

Per the release:

• A staff member who works in Athletics was confirmed this morning to have tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last on campus on March 6, 2020. He is being treated in a local hospital.

• Another member of the Athletics Department who had contact with the individual is under self-quarantine at home with no symptoms at this time.

It was not mentioned what the staffers’ roles in the athletic department are.
