Flips, anticipated announcements and nervous coaching staffs.

By midday Wednesday, most of it will be over.

We’re 24 hours away from the hard work paying off for several of the SEC’s elite programs this recruiting season, notably Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia who each expect to bring in classes ranked in the Top 5 nationally, classes littered with four and five-star prospects anticipating an early impact.

Florida, a program in transition with first-year coach Jim McElwain, was at the bottom of the SEC and 63rd nationally with just 13 commits heading into the final week before landing three players on Monday — three-star defensive back Kylan Johnson, four-star running back Jordan Scarlett and four-star cornerback Chris Williamson.

The Gators are in position to move into the Top 15 nationally on Wednesday if uncommitted in-state prospects Martez Ivey, CeCe Jefferson and Byron Cowart all indicate they’re heading to Gainesville.

Five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack, once a Texas A&M commit, reportedly eliminated Texas from consideration on Monday and will choose between the Aggies and TCU this week. Mack would be a huge get for John Chavis and a Texas A&M defense that should be vastly improved next season.

Tennessee’s in the process of flipping four-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond, a Memphis native who decommitted from Ole Miss late Monday. Richmond visited Tennessee last weekend and signing with the Vols would cement the SEC’s second-best class this cycle for Butch Jones and Co.

The Vols are expected to pull in the Eastern Division’s most impressive class and are nearing max scholarships with 28 total commits including four five-stars.

The news hasn’t been as promising for South Carolina this offseason, a program marred by a national-leading nine decommitments including three-star cornerback Damon Arnette on Monday who chose Ohio State. Primary defensive end target Arden Key also announced his decision this week, pledging to LSU over the Gamecocks.

Georgia’s two-minute drill and primary focus during crunch time has been to secure uncommitted four-star linebacker Roquan Smith and try to keep five-star athlete Terry Godwin. Several teams are trying to flip Godwin for his playmaking services including Auburn, a squad in the mix for several of the nation’s best who haven’t yet announced.

The Bulldogs flipped in-state running back Tae Crowder Monday night after a JUCO option flipped to Oklahoma State earlier. Crowder was committed to Georgia Southern, but jumped at the opportunity to play in Athens.
