Benny Snell has made Kentucky and SEC history this season. He could be adding a prominent national award to his 2018 accomplishments.
Snell was named one of the 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award on Wednesday. He’s one of two SEC running backs to make the list. Texas A&M’s Trayveon Williams, who leads the SEC in rushing with 1,159 yards, also made the cut.

The award is named after three-time All-American at SMU and 1948 Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker. The three finalists for the award will be determined after votes are tallied following the Week 12 games. The winner will be named during the “Home Depot College Football Awards” Dec. 6 on ESPN. The most recent SEC running back to win the award was Alabama’s Derrick Henry in 2015.
