Alabama lost a commitment from a preferred walk-on kicker on Tuesday.

Mitchell Wasson, rated as a two-star recruit and the No. 26 kicker in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, announced his decision via Twitter this afternoon.

“After a lot of time and consideration I’ve decided to take a step back on what college to go to and de commit from Alabama and look at all of my options,” Wasson wrote. “I’d like to thank Alabama’s coaching staff for the opportunity.”

Wasson was offered a preferred walk-on spot in December after the top kicker in the class, Eddy Pineiro, de-committed from the Crimson Tide and joined Florida.

Alabama kicker Adam Griffith, who will be a redshirt senior in 2016, decided to return to the school. Griffith made 17 of his last 20 attempts last season after starting 0-for-4.
