Mitchell Turner, one of the top defensive line prospects in the Class of 2027, announced on Thursday that he will be attending one of 8 schools: Alabama, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas or Ohio State.
As you probably noticed, 6 of the 8 schools included in Turner’s top 8 are from the SEC. Given that Turner is from Louisville, Mississippi, a lot of signs seem to indicate that he’ll be playing SEC football very soon.
Louisville is located about 15 miles southwest of Starkville, so Mississippi State is definitely a team to watch. Mississippi State is also one of 4 schools that Turner has scheduled an official visit to, per 247Sports. The other 3 schools with an OV planned for Turner are Ole Miss, Texas and Alabama — again, all SEC programs.
There’s a reason why Turner has such an impressive offer list. The 6-3, 275-pound DL is considered to be the No. 48 overall prospect in the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports. He’s also rated the No. 3 DL and No. 1 player out of the Magnolia State.
In 2025, Turner totaled 103 tackles and 15.5 sacks while forcing 1 fumble with 2 pass breakups.
