25 tweets about the 2016 season I’d like to delete … and 10 I should pin

Some editors spend their days tweeting links.
I much prefer offering observations and opinions, engaging in friendly sparring, usually about the SEC but not always.
(W)right or wrong, it’s always fun.
Here are 25 tweets from the 2016 regular season that I’d like to forget … and 10 I should have pinned.
25 I’d like to forget
1. Crazy thing about the Canes: They were a botched field goal from beating FSU and could have coasted to ACC title game from there. Coulda, shoulda … but didn’t.
Mark. Richt. Effect. It's over, Coastal. You had your fun. Now The U is going to have its. https://t.co/RbMxUZiPQE

2. Call me crazy, but I’d still rather watch these four than the four we’re going to get.
My CFP Top 4: 1. Alabama, 2. Clemson, 3. Louisville, 4. Michigan
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 30, 2016
3. I later amended and wrote that Jalen Hurts should win the Heisman … this year. I should have written that at 2:51 p.m., Sept. 23.
2 weeks ago I wrote that he'd win the 2017 Heisman. This year? He's a candidate, but Deshaun and Lamar are well ahead at this point. https://t.co/fXzsaHpejA
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 23, 2016
4. What was I thinking? How about, forever.
Never thought I'd be asking this, but how much longer does Butch Jones stick with Dobbs?
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 24, 2016
5. Oops.
Gators' biggest beatdown in this 11-game winning streak over Tennessee is 39 points. Gators are ahead of that pace right now.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 24, 2016
6. Fortunately, the day turned out very well for both of us.
Butch Jones having a worse afternoon than I am … and I had to run to ER to be w/ son injured in football game. He'll be fine. Vols? Eh…
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 24, 2016
7. Well, it was true then.
First half Ole Miss is the best team in the country.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 24, 2016
8. I missed an important disclaimer when describing Mizzou’s legitimacy: “against bad teams.”
Drew Lock: 328 yards, 3 TDs, one quick possession into second half vs. Georgia. Mizzou's offense is legit. Could see potential in opener.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 18, 2016
9. When Bama messes up, Nick gets to yell at Lane. I can only scream at myself.
Wrote this morning that I wanted to see if Mizzou could make some noise in the East, make it a 4-team race. So far, so good for Tigers.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 18, 2016
10. Oh, what could have been.
Dear CFP committee: Drama's great, but remember: Lamar Jackson vs. Alabama's D is matchup everybody in America wants to see. Don't deny us.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) November 8, 2016
11. Or not.
It's odd that ECU can't lose to an ACC team and can't beat an SEC team. That could change Saturday against South Carolina, though.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 15, 2016
12. Vandy shut it down, all right. The Dores held Georgia Tech to a season-high 38 points.
Not getting ton of buzz, but I'm looking forward to Derek Mason vs. Paul Johnson Saturday. Hunch is Mason/Vandy shut down the triple option.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 14, 2016
13. So impressed with him during and after the Outback Bowl, just the way he carried himself. Then he darn near tried to bring down Vols Nation. Couldn’t though.
Jalen Hurd has to lead the country is Most Guys It Takes To Bring Me Down.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 11, 2016
14. Obviously I mean to say LSU.
I'm not a fire-the-coach guy, but this Kentucky performance is the type that gets a coach fired.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 10, 2016
15. Speaking of swinging and missing … Why do I question myself? I was right … then wrong.
I thought this was the year Kentucky might end this streak, go above .500 in SEC and make a bowl. Swinging and missing like Mark Reynolds.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 10, 2016
16. Clearly.
I'd be more concerned about Ole Miss' secondary depth chart if they played in Big 12…but they're in the SEC West, so … they'll be fine.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 6, 2016
17. Kinda, sorta … the East eventually won a round or two, but the fight should have been called early. Like around December 2009.
SEC power rankings: 1 Alabama. 2. App State, 3. S. Alabama … Relax. The SEC varsity starts its season in a few minutes.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 3, 2016
18. Back when I was still mad about Alabama’s QB1 decision.
If you're a true freshman QB in SEC, you better have some serious escape skills. McIlwain does. Hurts does, too, even if we won't get to see
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 1, 2016
19. OK, so he’s not going to win. But can I at least get a rematch with Bama in the national title game?
Bryce Harper's Heisman ballot:
1. Deshaun Watson
2. That's a clown question, bro.
3. See No. 2— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 2, 2016
20. Odd part, play that Pettway got hurt on was one where he tried to run away from the field. Do what you do, big fella.
If Kamryn Pettway keeps getting 39 carries, somebody's going to get hurt. And it won't be Kamryn Pettway.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 9, 2016
21. I forgot about the OSU exception in the College Football Playoff criteria. It’s marked with a Buckeyes helmet sticker instead of an asterisk.
B1G trouble in Columbus. B1G, B1G, B1G trouble.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 23, 2016
22. At least I got this part right …
So now the B1G convo isn't about OSU but rather the depth. They'll probably want 4 teams in after this.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 23, 2016
23. I should have believed. Earlier, even.
I'm watching it, but I'm not really believing it. South Carolina has a serious chance to go bowling.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 30, 2016
24. This is the kind of detailed analysis that leads to TV gigs.
This Alabama defense is ridiculous.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 15, 2016
25. Time will tell, but give me Bama by 14 against the B1G-gest you got.
Y'all own October. No doubt about that. https://t.co/mdeqobkC1i

10 Tweets I’d like to pin
1. During spring ball, it was obvious, to me, anyway, that Jalen Hurts was just … different. In July I picked Alabama to go 6-2 with losses to Ole Miss and LSU because I was convinced Nick Saban would stick to the process and start one of the lesser veterans. Instead, Saban blew it up — and Hurts beat Ole Miss and LSU.
Alabama will not lose if Jalen Hurts is QB1. I picked them 3rd because Nick always picks experience over talent. Bama's beatable w older 2.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 4, 2016
2. Moments before this, I tweeted that I couldn’t understand why Alabama hadn’t just named Hurts the starter from the opening kickoff.
Nick realizes we'll still think he's a great coach if he wins BECAUSE of his QB, right?
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 4, 2016
3. Alabama slowed down but still finished fifth in the country with 41 sacks.
Most dangerous place in America is the pocket of whatever field Bama is playing on that Saturday.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 10, 2016
3. Honestly, I don’t know why they waited so long.
LSU needs to rip off the interim tag. Nobody is more Louisiana than Coach O. He's won the presser. He's won the state. He's winning.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 23, 2016
4. Poor Vols. This was just the beginning of the season to remember to forget.
He won, but Butch Jones' seat has to be hot enough to serve a Ruth's Chris steak after that performance. Can't imagine Vols Nation happy.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 2, 2016
5. The best adapt and thrive, not hope and survive.
No two coaches were more successful leaning on veterans than Nick and K. To see them adapt and win? Refreshing. Though K still won't tweet.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) November 4, 2016
6. Don’t believe me? Check back in 5 years.
Love PFF, but If your computer tells you Mitch Trubisky is better than Jalen Hurts, you might want to check for viruses. Ain't no way. https://t.co/a6NrNIP36v
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 21, 2016
7. Sure, the Buckeyes lost to the possible Big Ten champ, but let’s pick the Bucks ahead of Penn State, anyway.
If we've learned anything from selection committee it's this: Every game matters — except unexplainable Ohio State loss. Those don't count.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 23, 2016
8. Thirty minutes after they announced the postponement, the inevitable solution.
Time to buy out the contracts, cancel the cupcakes and get Florida and LSU together on Nov. 19. Presbyterian and S. Alabama can play at LSU.
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) October 6, 2016
9. Anybody seen the updated spread lately?
At this point, is the point spread on SEC CG 21.5? Can the East even keep it that close?
— Chris Wright (@CWrightSDS) September 24, 2016
10. Then. Now. Until Nick retires.
There's only one Alabama.
