Jerry Jones, the co-captain of Arkansas’ 1964 national championship team, and Georgia great Terrell Davis (1992-94) are among the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017 finalists.
Davis is joined by former LSU linemen Alan Faneca (1994-97) and Kevin Mawae (1989-93) on the list of 15 modern finalists that will be narrowed down to five inductees. The group announced Tuesday was previously on a list of 26 semifinalists. Faneca was also part of the final 15 named for the 2016 class.
Jones and former commissioner Paul Tagliabue are finalists as contributors and, along with senior finalist Kenny Easley, are subject to a different vote process than the modern finalists. If Jones receives at least 80 percent of a yes-or-no vote, he will be inducted.
A maximum of five modern-era finalists will be voted on the day before the Super Bowl.
