In order to have a strong football team, it’s usually important to control the line of scrimmage. So it’s not surprising that some of the top teams in the SEC have strong offensive lines.

In fact, four teams were named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, which is awarded to the overall best offensive line each season. Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi State were among the 14 teams named to the midseason honor roll for the award.

No other conference had more than two teams on the list.

The four SEC teams featured on the list are all currently ranked — Alabama (No. 1), Georgia (No. 8), Kentucky (No. 14) and Mississippi State (No. 22).

The Joe Moore Award was first handed out in 2015, with Alabama winning the inaugural honor. Iowa (2016) and Notre Dame (2017) have won it the past two seasons.

The Crimson Tide could be in good position to reclaim the award this year. They are 7-0 and have been dominant on offense thus far.
