4-star RB Cedric Baxter Jr., top-50 recruit overall nationally, has 3 SEC teams in top 5

Cedric Baxter Jr. is among the most sought-after recruits in the class of 2023, having picked up 52 scholarship offers. Baxter is narrowing things down. On Saturday, he shared a top 5 that Chad Simmons of On3 calls the standout running back’s final 5.

It’s coming down to Arkansas, Florida, Miami, Texas and Texas A&M for Baxter.

Out of Edgewater in Orlando, Baxter is listed at 6-1, 215 pounds and rated 4-stars, the No. 4 running back, No. 12 Florida product and No. 46 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite.

According to his 247Sports recruiting profile, Baxter has visited all of his finalists over the past couple of months, including multiple visits to Florida (March 19, April 9) and Miami (March 10, April 7), the schools closest to home. Baxter was in the Lone Star State in March, visiting Texas (March 25) and Texas A&M (March 26). His most recent visit was to Arkansas, last weekend.

As a junior, Baxter carried the ball 202 times for 1,718 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 7 receptions for 102 yards and a TD. Highlights from that season can be viewed below, via Hudl:
