A number of freshman made strong contributions in the SEC this season, and these five players were definitely some of the strongest newcomers in the country.

The 2017 FWAA Freshman All-America Team was announced Monday, and two of the players on the list will play in the National Championship Game Monday evening. Georgia QB Jake Fromm and OL Andrew Thomas will lead the Bulldogs offense against Alabama come kickoff time.

Fromm has been one of the biggest stories in the SEC this season. The true freshman took over at QB following the injury to Jacob Eason and never looked back. Fromm has played well this season and put up a strong performance in the Rose Bowl win for Georgia.

Here are the five SEC players selected to the team:

  • Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
  • Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
  • Trey Smith, OG, Tennesseee
  • Greedy Williams, DB, LSU
  • Jace Christmann, K, Mississippi State
