5 SEC programs ranked among the best in the nation at filling stadium capacities in 2018
It’s no secret that the Southeastern Conference has some of the best cathedrals in the nation when it comes to attending college football games in the fall but when it comes to filling the stadiums to capacity, only a handful of league teams ranked in the top 25 last season.
That may be a surprising number to many but with Georgia ruling the SEC East over the previous two seasons, that may be keeping some of the Bulldogs’ opponents down and away from games. That’s not an excuse out West, however, as four SEC West division teams ranked in the top 21 in filling their stadium capacity last season.
According to FBSchedules.com, only five programs in the nation filled their stadium to 100 percent capacity or higher last season and Georgia was the only program to do so in the SEC.
Here are the five SEC programs that ranked inside the top 25 for filling stadium capacities last fall, including their overall ranking on the list:
- #5 Georgia – 100% (Sanford Stadium holds 92,746)
- #6 Alabama – 99.7% (Bryant-Denny Stadium holds 101,821)
- #14 LSU – 98.5% (Tiger Stadium holds 102,321)
- #18 Texas A&M – 97.2% (Kyle Field holds 102,733)
- #21 Auburn – 96.6% (Jordan-Hare Stadium holds 87,451)
