5-star DE Xavier Thomas announces commitment to Clemson with message for South Carolina staff, fans

Five-star DE Xavier Thomas, the No. 2 overall prospect for 2018 according to the 247Sports Composite, broke the hearts of many South Carolina fans Saturday morning when he announced his commitment to Clemson while visiting the Tigers’ spring game.

The Palmetto State native has gone from potential Gamecocks star to bitter rival, but on Saturday he actually had kind words for USC. The note attached to Thomas’ tweet includes a public thank you to Will Muschamp’s team:
“To the USC staff and fans – Thank you! They were all so good to me and I will always be grateful for all the love they have shown me and the family and I wish them the best.”
Neither side will wish the other the best when it comes time to play the last game of the season, but some Gamecocks fans may appreciate Thomas’ gesture.
