Week 8 of college football has arrived, everybody! We’ve got 50 things on our mind that we have to bounce off you entering this week’s action. Enjoy!

  1. You want to know why they call it Death Valley? LSU has beaten an AP top 10 team at home in each of the last six seasons.
  2. By the way, three of the four teams ahead of No. 5 LSU in the AP Poll (No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Baylor and No. 4 TCU) have combined for zero wins against ranked teams. The Tigers have three, including a victory over an AP top 10 team. I know it doesn’t matter, but does that make any sense?
  3. Are there really as many AAC teams as Pac-12 teams ranked in the AP Poll right now?
  4. Who thought Temple would lay an egg in its first game being ranked since 1979 before beating East Carolina 24-14 on Thursday night?
  5. Is Texas A&M going to collapse after starting 5-0 the same way it did last season when it went 3-5 to finish last season?
  6. Which receiver will leave his mark this week in Oxford two of the best at the position, Christian Kirk and Laquon Treadwell, go head-t0-head?
  7. How do the Rebels respond from that road loss to Memphis last week?
  8. How does Texas A&M, especially its quarterbacks, respond from that 41-23 loss to Alabama last week that was highlighted by three pick-sixes?
  9. Do we see more of Kyler Murray?
  10. How many runs are going to be scored when Missouri and Vanderbilt play this Saturday?
  11. How many fans will be awake by the end of the game?
  12. Will Western Kentucky be as good as LSU coach Les Miles advertised them to be in his weekly press conference this week?
  13. Can Josh Dobbs and Tennessee carry the momentum from their comeback victory against Georgia into Tuscaloosa? Dobbs had maybe the best game of his career, throwing for 312 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception while rushing for 118 yards and two more scores.
  14. Will Derrick Henry record a touchdown in an 13th straight game and extend the school record?
  15. Is there a bigger disappointment in college football this season than Georgia Tech, which is 0-4 in ACC play this season after reaching the ACC title game last season — only losing 37-35 to Florida State — and winning the Orange Bowl by 2 touchdowns? The Yellow Jackets are on a five-game losing streak.
  16. Since there’s a strong likelihood the team will drop its sixth straight this week against No. 9 Florida State, does coach Paul Johnson survive?
  17. Speaking of the Seminoles, did you know Everett Golson is one of only three FBS quarterbacks to throw for at least 10 TDs without an interception this season, along with Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott (11 TDs) and Arizona’s Anu Solomon (13).
  18. Will Prescott climb past Georgia’s David Greene to claim the 2nd-longest streak of passes without an interception in SEC history? Prescott has thrown 274 passes without a pick, and Greene’s mark is 291.
  19. Can Vanderbilt (0-3) pick up its first conference win to give every league team a victory in SEC play?
  20. No. 2 Baylor has scored at least 60 points in five straight games. Can we just pencil it in for six straight this week against Iowa State?
  21. How surprising is it that Baylor, despite its recent success, led the FBS in penalties per game in each of the previous two seasons and is also currently leading the FBS in that area this season with 9.5 per game?
  22. How bad is it that Michigan not only had to endure a heartbreaking home loss to rival Michigan State like that, but the Wolverines are left with an extra week to stew over it with a bye week before playing Minnesota? I guess they were going to be thinking about it for a long time anyways.
  23. Michigan State has won four of its seven games this season by one possession. Does it squeak by Indiana this week?
  24. USC has been installed as a 3.5-point favorite at home against No. 3 Utah. Do the Trojans get the big win in the Coliseum on Saturday night?
  25. How much is Alabama’s Eddie Jackson liking his move from corner to safety? And how much is Texas A&M’s Kyle Allen not liking this picture?Eddie Jackson
  26. Did anyone see Kansas State lose 55-0 to Oklahoma at home last week? That was the Wildcats’ first shutout loss since 1996, when No. 9 Kansas State lost to No. 6 Colorado 12-0. That was the first season that the Big 8 became the Big 12.
  27. South Carolina has trailed at halftime in all seven of its games this season. Will the Gamecocks be trailing at the half when they face Bye this week? I heard Bye is tough this season.
  28. How likely is it that Vanderbilt QB Johnny McCrary, who’s struggled recently, will continue his struggles against Missouri?
  29. Did Alabama’s loss to Ole Miss back in Week 3 wake the sleeping giant?
  30. Is Kentrell Brothers a machine that got programmed on beast mode this season? He has an SEC-best 91 tackles this season, 22 more than the player with the next-most, who is South Carolina’s Skai Moore.
  31. How much viewership did No. 18 Memphis earn this week for its game against Tulsa tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN after its 37-24 win against No. 13 Ole Miss last week?
  32. When you’re as bad as Kansas is (0-6, 0-3 in Big 12), how much pressure does that put on its opponents to not be the ones to lose to the Jayhawks?
  33. Leonard Fournette already has 1,202 rushing yards this season. Did you know that’s more than 83 of the 128 FBS teams at this point in the season?
  34. How lucky is Texas A&M to have Christian Kirk for two more seasons?
  35. How will Kentucky and Mississippi State, the two best SEC teams in the red zone this season, fare in that area when they square off in Starkville this week?
  36. Who’s the best two-loss team in the country: No. 15 Michigan or No. 24 Ole Miss?
  37. Is LSU QB Brandon Harris’ performance against Florida last week — 13 of 19, 202 yards, 2 TDs and no interceptions — a sign of things to come for Harris?
  38. Despite the loss, do you get the sense we should be taking Florida even more seriously after last week’s performance in Death Valley?
  39. What are we supposed to think of the Big 12 when three of its teams — Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech — occupy the top three spots in both scoring offense and total offense?
  40. Can either Ole Miss or Texas A&M establish a running game this weekend? The Rebels rank 8th in the SEC in rushing yards per game (167.1), and the Aggies rank 9th (162).
  41. Will Mississippi State’s Westin Graves (8-for-8) and LSU’s Trent Domingue (7-for-7) remain perfect on field goals this season?
  42. Can Auburn make it three straight wins in Fayetteville this Saturday?
  43. Will Brandon Doughty and Co. have success against LSU’s defense, especially through the air?
  44. Will the Hilltoppers’ defense get any sleep tonight before it has to face Fournette tomorrow?
  45. Which FBS team has the best chance of picking up its first win this season: New Mexico State (0-6 vs. Troy), UCF (vs. No. 21 Houston), Kansas (at No. 14 Oklahoma State) or North Texas (at Marshall)?
  46. None of the above?
  47. Will interim coach Shawn Elliott be the Gamecocks head coach next season?
  48. If Alabama Derrick Henry scores a TD in every game this season, can accomplishing that give him a chance to win the Heisman?
  49. Will Ohio State ever settle on a starting quarterback?
  50. If SEC football never had an offseason, would your couch ever get an offseason?
