One ranking system says Georgia was the No. 3 team going into Saturday and the Dawgs are still the nation’s third-best team.
ESPN’s Football Power Index has been updated after the Week 14 conference championship games and makeup games.
Eight SEC teams make the top 25, including UGA at No. 3:
- No. 1 – Alabama
- No. 3 – Georgia
- No. 9 – Mississippi State
- No. 12 – Missouri
- No. 13 – Florida
- No. 16 – LSU
- No. 18 – Texas A&M
- No. 20 – Auburn
The FPI is not resume based especially in regards to head-to-head. ESPN defines the FPI as a “measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season.” The rankings are based on a team’s FPI (e.g. Alabama, 31.2) which “represents how many points above or below average a team is.”
The Week 14 action bumped Kentucky out of the top 25. NC State is no No. 25 after the Wolfpack’s 58-3 win over ECU Saturday.
