When the Alliance of American Football League announced an Orlando franchise which was going to be coached by Steve Spurrier, UCF jumped at the chance to host the professional football team. Now it likely wishes it never had.

That’s because the AAF reportedly owes UCF over $1 million for running Spectrum Stadium this season. That money has not been paid according to WFTV 9 in Orlando. The Orlando Apollos were scheduled to host more games in the stadium — including the AAF playoffs, but of course, when the league suspended activities this week, those games were canceled.

The AAF has a lease for UCF’s Spectrum Stadium but the school never invoiced the league.

Somewhat ironically, the Orlando AAF team is claiming the league championship despite never playing in the title game. Stop if you’ve heard that one before from an Orlando based team.
