Aaron Donald retired as one of the best defensive players in NFL history. Before that, though, he was a star at Pitt.
Donald was on hand at Acrisure Stadium as Saturday’s guest picker on “College GameDay” ahead of Pitt’s Week 12 contest against Notre Dame. Unsurprisingly, the Panthers great and future Hall of Famer went with his alma mater to pull off the win at home.
That ultimately left things to Pat McAfee. Would the former West Virginia punter, a Pittsburgh native, pick against the Mountaineers’ Backyard Brawl rivals or give the nod to his hometown team? After taking his shirt off — with Donald doing the same — and climbing up on his chair at the GameDay desk, McAfee made the call.
“How could you not pick the Pitt Panthers?” he yelled.
Panthers fans were undoubtedly pleased to hear that. But that was before McAfee switched it up.
“I’m from West Virginia, baby. Let’s go, Mountaineers! Yeah, right, Aaron Donald. Notre Dame beats Pitt today!” he said.
That led to Donald playfully shoving McAfee off of the set and onto the Acrisure Stadium playing surface. Here’s the video:
While viewers should have known he was going to snub the Panthers, the always bombastic McAfee was sure to add plenty of entertainment value as only he can.
