Aaron Murray on Tennessee’s coaching search: ‘They need to hit a damn grand slam’

The Tennessee Volunteers have a pair of high-profile jobs to fill after firing football coach Jeremy Pruitt on Monday and having AD Phillip Fulmer leave.
After a messy search following the 2017 season that ended with Fulmer taking over as AD and Pruitt getting hired as head coach, the Vols can’t afford to have this next search drag on.
On Monday, former Georgia QB-turned-analyst Aaron Murray appeared on SiriusXM radio and said the Vols need to “hit a damn grand slam” with their next hires:

“To me, this program is rough right now,” he said. “It’s rocky as rocky can be at the moment. They need to hit a home run. They need to hit a damn grand slam. … Right now, this program is so far behind. … It’s a program in shambles.”
The search for a new AD and new head coach is only getting started. We could be in for a long search, so we’ll see what direction the Vols take things moving forward.
