Aaron Murray provided insight on the play of Carson Beck as Georgia prepares to face Kentucky in Athens.
The Bulldogs quarterbacking great, on Saturday’s “Marty and McGee”, mentioned a sit-down he had with Georgia’s current signal-caller to discuss “the pressures” of the starting role “on and off the field”. Beck mentioned people on campus taking photos of him and asking for his autograph, something that he found “bizarre” because he didn’t consider himself “[a] big-time superstar”.
“I think, mentality-wise, he’s in a really good spot,” Murray said.
As far as Beck’s on-field performance, it has been “excellent”, according to Murray, regardless of what he’s heard from some Georgia fans regarding what they see as a “lack of production down the field”.
“That will come,” he said. “I would rather a quarterback be mature enough to get through his reads, find his No. 3 (and) No. 4 [receivers], make a defense come up, and then eventually, those plays are going to start hitting down the field like I said. So I give him an A for the way he’s started the season off.”
