Advanced stats show SEC loaded with young WRs emerging this season

Pro Football Focus posted a list on Tuesday afternoon of the top SEC wide receivers when targeted.

These are the guys who help efficiently create the highest quarterback passer rating when they are targeted.

With a minimum of 16 targets, six receivers have stood out significantly this season. Some of the names may come as a surprise.

Arkansas’ Jonathan Nance leads the way. He’s been targeted 18 times and has caught 15 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns. His reciprocating QB passer rating is 158.3.

Georgia had two receivers in the Top 6 — Terry Godwin, with a 145.8 rating at No. 2 and Javon Wims, who has a 131.0 rating at No. 5.

Florida’s Tyrie Cleveland made the cut as the third-most efficient receiver in the conference in terms of these metrics.

Ole Miss’ A.J. Brown and South Carolina’s Deebo Samuel also were on the list despite being the only players in the Top 6 with a quarterback who has thrown an interception when targeting them.
