Not many people are picking South Carolina to pull off an upset win over No. 2 Alabama on Saturday. But a college football parody account spread a fake quote that made it seem like Kirk Herbstreit was picking the Gamecocks, and the ESPN analyst took notice.
At first, Herbstreit didn’t know where the fake pick was coming from, pointing out that he picked South Carolina over Alabama in 2010, but not this year.
Why am I getting asked if I’m picking South Carolina over Bama???? Hahaha!!! I DID pick South Carolina over Bama in 2010!!!!! Not in 2019!!! Love to know where that came from. Wasn’t from me.

Shortly after, Herbstreit found the parody account that started the fake quote, and he tweeted his disapproval:

While it might be reasonable to say South Carolina could play a somewhat competitive game, the quote is obviously fake by how it ends with Herbstreit “stating” he would pick the Gamecocks on ESPN’s College GameDay this Saturday.
The Crimson Tide, who are one of the best teams in the country again this season, are heavy favorites over the Gamecocks, and it would be a huge upset if they lost their first SEC game of the year.
Alabama and South Carolina are set to kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
