Ahead of playing LSU Saturday, Barry Odom reacted to the Tigers’ firing Les Miles

Coach Barry Odom and his Missouri Tigers are a part of history they didn’t expect to be – the first LSU game of the post-Les Miles era.

On his weekly radio show, Odom expressed his admiration for Miles, who was fired Sunday:

“We were in meetings working on them in kind of a normal Sunday, and No. 1, I hate it for Les. He’s been a guy that I’ve looked up to for a number of years. He’s had such great success. You look at the body of work he’s done. He’s changed and affected so many lives of young men – thousands of them – over his career in such a positive way and he’s had such great success.

I was surprised, but this business is crazy he’s going to be in a good spot. He’s a really good coach and he made college football better in my opinion. He’s such a respected member of the Southeastern Conference and I’ve followed his career for a long, long time and he’s one of the great ones.”

As for Mizzou news, Odom indicated that RB Alex Ross, who was injured in the Eastern Michigan game, will be back this week:

Odom asked on radio show if RB Alex Ross plays at LSU: "I think so. He looked a lot better last night. I'd anticipate him playing."
