Ainias Smith was asked about where he would use himself if he was the head coach on the ‘Make It a Cup!’ podcast recently. Smith weighed in on how he could best contribute on the gridiron.
Jimbo Fisher stated that Texas A&M began using Smith similar to how the San Francisco 49ers use Deebo Samuel in their offense. Fisher even said that the Aggies were doing that before the 49ers.
One of Smith’s more versatile seasons came in 2020 when he accounted for 857 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns.
Smith believes he could be used in a variety of ways.
“Throw me in at like No. 99 or something,” said Smith. “As soon as I go out there it could be like ‘There goes like No. 99’. I could either be a decoy, quarterback, running back, or throw me out there at DB.”

Smith originally committed to Texas A&M as a 3-star CB from the 2019 class per the 247Sports Composite before making the switch to WR.
Smith recorded 302 scrimmage yards with 2 touchdowns in 2022 before suffering a season-ending injury after playing in four games.
Maybe Fisher will take Smith’s advice in 2023 and use the Aggie wideout even more in the offense.
Texas A&M opens the season against New Mexico on Sept. 2. The game will be shown on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.
