On Saturday, it was reported that Aurora, the 22-year-old live falcon mascot for Air Force, was injured in a prank gone wrong by a group of Army cadets.

The injuries were feared to be life-threatening, but on Sunday, that prognosis improved a bit.

According to a report from ESPN, an Air Force spokesperson said Aurora was able to fly around a bit on Sunday, which is a majorly positive sign for her survival chances:

Air Force Academy spokesperson Lt. Col. Tracy A. Bunko said 22-year-old Aurora “was able to fly around in her pen” on Sunday.

Bunko called the development “an extremely good sign” and said the academy is “grateful for the outpouring of support and optimistic for Aurora’s recovery.”

The falcon will continue to be evaluated and receive antibiotics to prevent infection, Bunkosaid.

Obviously, Aurora isn’t out of the woods yet, but this is a good sign for her chances at survival.

Meanwhile, Army spokespeople said the school is investigating the incident thoroughly.
