The Alabama Crimson Tide have a big decision to make between Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa at the quarterback position this offseason.

Many think Tagovailoa is the favorite to land the job, but recently, Hurts’ father, Averion Hurts, had a meeting with coach Nick Saban. He implied that if his son doesn’t win the starting job, he could transfer.

On Friday, Tony McCarron, the father of former Alabama star QB AJ McCarron, joined “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP and told a story about the one time he had a meeting with Saban (via AL.com):

“Personally, even though I think it was the right thing to do, I was still very hesitant in doing that because it wasn’t my life,” he explained.

“It was about how the (QB) competition (with Phillip Sims) was being handled. There were factors in play that I wasn’t 100 percent sure was on level. All I asked was: Is this level or is that the way it’s going to be done? He assured me (it was level).”

McCarron went on to share the advice he’d give to Averion Hurts, saying he thinks Jalen’s dad should keep the family’s business private:

“If he asked me for advice, keep your private business private,” he said.

Saban can’t be happy with the drama coming out this week, but Hurts can put himself in the driver’s seat of the QB competition with a big spring game performance on Saturday.
