Alabama is coming off its first loss of the season, a 23-17 collapse against Mississippi, and its earned them criticism from all over the place, including their former quarterback. The Crimson Tide will need to be focused on the field as they take on an upstart Arkansas team. While the Razorbacks are 0-2 in the SEC, they pushed Texas A&M to the brink two weeks ago before their bye.
Here are some of the top Razorbacks to keep an eye on.
- QB Brandon Allen: Arkansas’ junior quarterback has been on point this year, despite not getting a ton of opportunities to throw the ball. He’s completing a shade less than 60 percent of his passes and has 9 touchdowns against 1 interception. Allen has shown a nice touch on deep balls too, so the Crimson Tide defense can’t get lulled to sleep by the run.
- RB Alex Collins: Coming off a 1,000-yard season as a freshman, Collins has been a mister in his second season in Fayetteville. He’s got 621 yards and 6 touchdowns already, and he’s churning out more than 7 yards per carry. Collins has tree trunks for legs and is as hard to bring down as any back in the conference.
- RB Jonathan Williams: Williams brings the thunder just as much as Collins does, and he’s been a touchdown machines. He’s capable of both breaking a big run and pounding out short yardage situations. Wiliams has punched in 8 TD on the ground already, and has a slightly higher per-carry average than Collins (7.4 to 7.2).
- WR Keon Hatcher: The Razorbacks don’t throw the ball much, but when they do it goes to Hatcher. The junior has 13 catches for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns, averaging more than 17 yards per grab. He’s also capable of taking a sweep or reverse in the running game, as he’s picked up 98 yards on just 3 carries.
- DE Taiwan Johnson: The sophomore defensive end has been a disruptive force for Arkansas, picking up 3.5 sacks already this season. Johnson is capable of collapsing the pocket and defending the run, as he has 5 total tackles for loss on the season.
